How to Pack your MINI

You will find that loading and unloading a MINI is much easier than loading a rental truck with a ramp or shuttling back and forth between a self-storage facility. The stressful time constraints associated with other types of moving and storing is gone – Take your time!  You have 30 days or more to load or unload – easily, conveniently and at your leisure.

Every MINI is treated with the utmost care in transit but, remember that the roads traveled for your MINI to go from location “A” to location “B” are probably not completely straight or flat nor are they smooth therefore, exercising care in packing your belongings by securing and cushioning them from normal road movement and vibration during transit is a good practice.

Below are helpful tips on how to pack and load a MINI:

  • As you are packing, take a few extra minutes to create an inventory list.
  • Label boxes to make an organized unpacking easier.
  • Pack as much as possible in boxes, and use packing paper or fillers to eliminate empty spaces and provide protection for your belongings.
  •  Place soft, light items such as pillows in a plastic bag and place them in small spaces where boxes can’t fit.
  • Don’t over pack.  Be sure box tops and sides don’t bulge or cave in.
  • Mix small items with larger items to fill spaces, and don’t save all your boxes for the end.
  • Use moving blankets to protect furniture, pictures, mirrors and glass tops.
  • Take care to evenly distribute the weight of your contents throughout the container by using all available space including wall-to-wall space and floor to ceiling space.
  • Fill the refrigerator, washer, dryer and other hollow items that take up space to optimize space.
  • Use straps, tie downs or 3/8-inch nylon rope to secure your belongings about every four-foot section as you load toward the door.
  • Pack and secure your belongings slightly away from the roll-up door as pressure on the door may restrict opening and closing movement.
  • Exercise caution and do not load anything that is poisonous, flammable, corrosive or perishable.  This includes but is not limited to animals, live plants, motor vehicles, engines, fuels/oils, paints/varnishes, insecticides, liquid bleach, paint thinners, aerosol cans, cleaning chemicals, propane tanks (empty or full), matches/candles, firearms/ammunition, food in glass jars, pressurized tanks, lighters, firewood, fire extinguishers and other hazardous materials.

If I fill my MINI, can I get another one quickly?

Absolutely, call us as soon as you recognize the need and we will schedule a delivery right away.

If I cannot fill an entire container, what do I do?
MINIS are designed to allow for partial household loads. There are tie downs along both sides and the end cap of the MINI to secure your belongings.

Will Go Mini’s provide the labor to load the container for me?
Go Mini’s of Nashua-Manchester can provide movers to help with loading and unloading through our sister company, diggins and Rose Moving, Inc.

How long do I have to load or unload the container?
Go Mini’s has no time limitations on your loading or unloading your MINI.  Being able to pack and unpack at your leisure is only one of the many advantages of using a MINI. There are no deadlines, time constraints or restrictions allowing you to move when you wish.

Do I have to be there when my MINI is delivered or picked-up?
No, although we recommend that someone be present whenever possible. Our deliveries and pick-ups may occur at any time after 7:00 am local time. The customer is responsible for ensuring that there is adequate clearance and accessibility for the desired location of the container.

How can I make a payment?
Go Mini’s accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover debit and credit cards. The Go Mini’s billing cycle begins on the day your empty MINI is delivered and continues to the same day the following month.

What day is my storage rent due?
Go Mini’s storage rent is due on the day the container is delivered and continues monthly until you are finished using your MINI.

Do you prorate for unused days?
Go Mini’s will prorate for unused days, under certain circumstances.  Please speak with your representative regarding this, if necessary.  We offer excellent value and will work with you when scheduling to take advantage of the billing cycle to minimize the stress in scheduling your move.

How do I get copies of all my bills or get my account balance?
Simply, give us a call and we can email, fax or mail you copies for your records as well as address any concerns.

If I cancel the order do I get my money back?
We charge your credit card when your order is placed. We ask that if you are going to cancel that you do so by calling Go Mini’s by 4pm EST the day before you are scheduled.  When cancelling your order, you must call and speak to a representative.  Should you cancel your order completely, there will be a $25 charge to offset credit card charges charged to Go Mini’s by the credit card servicing company when Go Mini’s initially charged your card and then again when Go Mini’s refunds your money by crediting your account.  Changes in dates or times are no harm, no foul and no charge.

If necessary, will I be able to change my payment method later?
You may always call Go Mini’s and change your Credit Card on file.

When do I pay? When do all the costs of the move hit my credit card?
Because Go Mini’s offers one inclusive price that covers all delivery, pickup, relocation fees.  We charge your monthly rental fee on the anniversary date that your MINI was initially delivered. Any moves of the GoMini and final pickup will be charged as they occur.

How much clearance do I need to place a container at my house, apartment or business?
In order to place a MINI on your property we need a clearance of 9 feet in width and 10 feet in height with no excessively steep inclines, low branches or wires.

How do I find out about my local regulations?
Go Mini’s will inform you of any code or regulation of which we are aware. If we do not have information for your area, a quick internet search on the city website should provide you with the information.

How long can I keep my container at my location?
Go Mini’s has no limit nor restriction, you may keep your MINI as long as you wish providing there is no specific regulation that defines the amount of time a unit may be placed at your location.What if I need to access my contents while they are in storage?
You can schedule access to your MINI with just a phone call.  Access is available by calling 603.318.7252 at least 2 hours before your expected arrival time, Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm and Saturday, 8am-12pm. Access to your MINI is free up to two times a month with a small service charge for subsequent visits.

Who has access to my MINI?

Only you or your designee(s) have access to your MINI.  Go Mini’s employees do not have access to your MINI.  When you loaded your MINI you closed the MINI door and placed a lock on it, only you have the keys – place them in a secure location and should you wish to access your MINI please, remember to bring your keys.

MINI Moving Checklist

  • Take inventory of your home. For insurance purposes, take a video with close-ups of serial numbers, brand names or other identifying marks. Keep this video in your safe deposit box.
  • Clean out all storage areas. Decide what goes with you, what to sell and what to give away. Donate items or have a yard sale.
  • Start a file for important moving-related documents. Many moving expenses are tax deductible, so keep your receipts. Call the IRS for Publication 521: “Tax Information On Moving Expenses.”
  • Make travel plans if needed – hotel, rental car or airline reservations.
  • Check on your insurance coverage. Go Mini’s can refer you to additional coverage. Call us for more details.
  • Collect and keep important papers handy; medical, dental, eyeglass or contact lens records, school records, child immunization records, prescriptions, loan payment books, pet immunization records, insurance documents, passports, marriage licenses, birth certificates, social security papers, etc.
  • Ask your pharmacy to transfer your prescriptions.
  • Find out what information is needed for school transfers.
  • Open new bank accounts (if required) and order new checks in advance.
  • File a “Change of Address” form with the post office.
  • Arrange for utilities to be stopped at old address a day after you have moved. Don’t to forget to request that the deposit be returned. Arrange for utilities at your new address to have service connected a day before you move in.
  • Change your addresses with: accountant, alumni associations, appliance contracts, attorney, banks, car loan company, catalog merchants, charitable organizations, church/synagogue, credit cards, dentist, drivers license, employers, frequent flyer programs, friends and relatives, insurance companies, investment companies, IRAs, lending institutions, magazine subscriptions, physicians, stockbroker, veterinarian, etc.
  • Reserve a baby-sitter for moving day or weekend.
  • Round up people to be part of the moving crew… food and drinks are always a good incentive.
  • Contact the following utility companies: Heat/Electric, Phone, Water, Cable, Trash Removal
  • Cancel/Transfer newspaper delivery
  • Dispose of flammable, volatile, hazardous or toxic materials such as spray paints, paint, alcohol, lighter fluid, solvents, paint thinner, insecticides, gas, oil, etc. Empty and air out your power mower and other gasoline engines, camp stove, barbecue grill tank and lantern fuel tanks.
  • Pack a “Survival Kit” for each person in your household. Items to include: keys, basic tools: hammer, nails, screwdriver, masking tape, flashlight, light bulbs, trash bags, and a knife; bathroom essentials: soap, towel, toilet paper, and a first aid kit; kitchen essentials: snacks, paper plates, cups, paper towels, plastic utensils and spray cleaners; other items: prescriptions, address book, checkbook, telephone, clock, glasses, change of clothes and don’t forget… your moving file.
